How does Taskmaster Club work?

By subscribing to the club, you get access to an ever-growing catalogue of tasks designed for older adults in care settings.

The activity coordinator is now the Taskmaster and they share the tasks with the residents.

Each task comes with a video from the Taskmaster house and music while the task is carried out. There is a printable guide, and other digital resources designed to help you make the most of the session.

Pick one or as many tasks that you think the group will like on each day. They are available whenever you need them. You are in control.

Before the session

• Print and display the Taskmaster Club poster to let people know when and where the sessions will take place.
• Look at the list of tasks and pick the ones you want to use. It can be just one, or as many as you like.
• Review the session plan for the task or tasks you are running, gather any resources needed, and consider the potential risks for participants.
• Check that you can display the video on a screen everyone can see.
• Print the scorecard to help with scoring, or just use a notepad.
• We have included some optional bunting, which can be a fun activity in itself.

During the session

1. Bring the listed resources to the session.
2. Play the introduction video. It explains the idea and plays the theme music, which many people recognise and enjoy.
3. Play the task video. Alex sets the task from the Taskmaster house, a place card stays on screen as a reminder, and there is background music while everyone takes part. Turn the music down or stop the video if it is distracting.
4. Help anyone who needs support understanding the task, and give a set time based on the needs of the group. Some may prefer to work as a team. All decisions made by the Taskmaster (you) are final.
5. Once everyone has finished, invite each person to share what they have done. Score each entry from 1 to 5 and record it on the scorecard.
6. Move on to another task, or end the session, depending on what your participants want.
7. At the end, announce the winner and hand them their Taskmaster Winner Certificate.

Prize tasks

Each episode of the Taskmaster show starts with a prize task, where the comedians bring something from home to serve as prizes for the winner. Prize tasks in Taskmaster Club are similar: participants are asked to bring something to the session, but nobody has to give anything up. They don't even need to bring the item in — that might be very impractical, if it was an aeroplane or a butterfly.
